St Matthew's Church

St Matthew's Church, in Church Lane, is one of the oldest and most interesting churches in the County, dating back to 1378. It is a Grade 1 listed building and is noted for its ancient stained glass windows, memorial brasses and medieval tiles. It features in Simon Jenkins' book "England's Thousand Best Churches" and attracts many visitors.

It is open from 2-4 pm on Saturday afternoons during the summer.

St Matthew's extends a warm and friendly welcome to all newcomers to the village. There is a service every Sunday morning at 11.00am; other services are advertised in the Parish Magazine. Children and young people are welcome at all services and are invited to join in the Sunday School if they wish.

We arrange fund-raising events throughout the year, many of which take place in and around the church itself. These are open to everyone.

A Pastoral Care Team operates to offer friendship and support in times of need and visits can be arranged if requested.

Enquiries regarding baptisms should be directed in the first instance to the Vicar, the Rev’d Mike Alexander (Email: mikealexander@ticvic.fsnet.co.uk and Tel: 01332 880380). For wedding enquiries please contact Eileen Pierrepont (Tel: 01332 831894).
